Porsche 911 Duck Tail Becomes a €5,790 Espresso Machine

The rear spoiler of the Porsche 911 has become the cup rail of an espresso machine. German carmaker Porsche and Italian coffee machine maker La Marzocco launched a limited-edition Linea Micra on October 30, drawing on the body colors and trim of the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7, with a European list price of 5,790 euros.
The standard Linea Micra starts at 3,546.20 euros in Germany, so the collaboration model costs 2,243.80 euros more, or about 63% higher. Both are built on La Marzocco's home espresso machine.
From Aerodynamics to Cup Rail

The 911 Carrera RS 2.7 debuted at the 1972 Paris Motor Show. Porsche first planned 500 units to qualify for motorsport, and 1,580 were eventually built. Its ducktail spoiler reduced lift at high speed and later became the car's signature look. On the machine, the ducktail shape now serves as a cup rail.
The colors come from the car as well: Grand Prix White-Green, Tangerine-Black and Grand Prix White-Blue. Porsche's design touches include black handles engraved with 'RS' and '2.7', a pressure gauge with red and green markings, a magnetic RS 2.7 badge and a metal plate marking the limited run.
The core machine is unchanged: dual boilers, a semi-automatic portafilter system, paddle-style levers, a 2-liter water tank, an insulated steam wand, an LED work light and app-based settings. Taste and extraction stability depend on beans, grind, temperature, pressure and user technique, not on the car-inspired styling.
Production is capped at 1,972 units, a nod to the car's debut year: 911 each in White-Green and Tangerine-Black, and 150 White-Blue units sold only in Germany. That is up from 911 units in the 2024 first collaboration. Porsche has also extended the line to a Pico grinder at 1,550 euros, cups, apparel and scale models.
Why It Matters
The collaboration shows how a car's visual heritage can lift the value of a household appliance without changing its technology. Whether buyers will pay the premium depends on their taste for Porsche design, their budget and their needs as coffee drinkers.
