Italian Film Week – Beyond Neorealism

Neorealism is the name given to a limited group of Italian films that persisted in the postwar decade, but without a clear definition. This new form of realism, however, has had a profound influence on cinema all over the world, including in Europe, until now. Represented by Vittorio Desica's Bicycle Thief (1948), these films capture the problems of ordinary people and their real lives in an unartificial way.
