'KPop Demon Hunters' Music Duo Lee Jae and Sam Kim Wed in Seoul Garden

Singer-songwriter Lee Jae (Kim Eun-jae) and producer-composer Sam Kim (Samuel Kim), the musical forces behind Netflix's hit animated film 'KPop Demon Hunters,' married on the 17th in a garden ceremony in Seoul. The couple moved the wedding up by a month from a planned November date in California, choosing the former home grounds of Lee's grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun (99).
A Wedding Rooted in Family and Korea

The ceremony took place at Stage28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong District, which also houses the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation. For Lee, it is a place full of childhood memories with her grandfather, and it is where her older brother held his own wedding. She is the child of Shin Hye-jin, vice chairwoman of Seyoung Enterprise and Shin's daughter.
The schedule change came after a long promotional tour and awards season for the film interrupted wedding planning following their engagement in June 2025. The date was finalized about four months ago. US fashion magazine Vogue reported on the private ceremony on the 20th.
Two days earlier, on the 15th, the couple attended the foundation's 16th Beautiful Artist Awards and Shin's 99th birthday celebration (baeksuyeon) at the same venue. Before the main ceremony, they held a traditional pyebaek ritual at a fusion Korean restaurant in Seoul. The outdoor ceremony followed a nature-friendly concept, with Lee wearing a custom tulle gown by designer Daniel Frankl and heirloom jewelry. The reception in a greenhouse featured toasts in both languages, a live set by the wedding band After Eight, and an outdoor Korean street-snack tent.
Lee and Kim met through a music session in May 2017 and lived together in Brooklyn, New York, for eight years as creative partners and a couple. A former SM Entertainment trainee, Lee has worked on songs for Red Velvet and aespa, and led the vocals for the fictional girl group HUNTR/X in the film.

Why It Matters
The wedding shows how global K-culture success can still circle back to family and Korean tradition. With a married creative duo now at the center of a worldwide hit, the music industry will be watching what they make next.
