Louis Vuitton SS27 Pre-Collection: Faded Monogram Bags and Chunky Soles

Pharrell Williams has rebuilt Louis Vuitton's travel bags and shoes for the Spring/Summer 2027 men's pre-collection. Under the theme 'Whatever the Weather,' the bags look sun-faded, mixed with suede and rain-like details, while the footwear borrows thick soles from outdoor gear.

Wear and Tear, by Design

The worn textures, raindrops and mud marks are not the result of long use. They were designed from the start. The Monogram Reporter, inspired by 1980s workwear and outdoor equipment, pairs coated canvas with brown suede and leather in faded blue and yellow Monogram. It appears on the Keepall, Nil, Flaneur and Christopher, as well as hard-sided trunks and watch cases. A related Monogram Surplus Brut uses laser-printed denim that looks washed out by rain. The Keepall 35 even carries glossy, three-dimensionally printed raindrops.

Footwear gets the same treatment. The LV Drop 300 combines mohair, mesh and suede, while the LV Ranger is a lightweight walking boot in black suede, rubber and ripstop, a weave reinforced to limit tearing. Sprayed rubber creates mud-like splatter on the LV Trainer and LV Ranger.

Size matters too. Boxy totes, small hand-carried bags and chunky boots change how wide trousers and loose coats read on the body. A short-hemmed look with high boots shifts proportions very differently from a long wide-leg pant over a thick sneaker.

Accessories add to the effect, including a knit scarf that pairs Monogram on one side with blue and yellow on the other, and LV Lock sunglasses inspired by trunk latches.

Why It Matters

Louis Vuitton treats bags and shoes as tools that shape the whole silhouette rather than finishing touches, and it turns the look of aged luxury into a deliberate design language. Buyers should still consider handle length, weight and the care needs of mixed materials.
