Seoul's Gallery Eun Opens Porcelain Painting Shows on Ceramic Memory

Gallery Eun in Seoul's Insadong district will present two porcelain painting exhibitions from October 28 to November 2. They are the group show 'My Bowl, My Painting: The Second Story' and Yang Doohwa's solo show 'Time That Became a Path'.

Everyday Bowls Turned Into Art Objects

On the first floor, 27 artists from the group Art Objet show works made through porcelain painting, a technique of painting directly on ceramics. They painted favorite colors and flowers, familiar scenery and moments that stayed in their hearts onto porcelain, turning ordinary tableware into art objects. The show aims to convey how daily life can lead into art, and the joy of making what you love.

On the second floor, Yang Doohwa, one of the group show participants and head of Art Objet Porcelain Studio, presents a solo exhibition. She has worked in porcelain painting for more than 20 years, repeatedly painting on ceramics and firing them in a kiln to complete each piece. This show captures the waiting built into her process, along with landscapes and memories found in slowly passing time. It invites visitors to pause, look back at the time that has passed, and see an ordinary day as a little more beautiful.

Gallery Eun CEO Shin Bonggeon said the exhibitions bring together works made on everyday ceramics and pieces completed with long hours and great care. He hopes visitors will feel the small beauty of daily life and the pleasure of looking slowly through the artists' individuality and sensibility.

The gallery is located across from Ssamziegil, a well-known shopping and craft complex in Insadong. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Why It Matters

The shows treat tableware as a canvas, linking craft with personal memory and everyday taste. With free entry in the heart of Insadong, they offer an easy way to experience slow, handmade Korean ceramic art.
