Fatdoo's Dorobodog Takes Readers on an Imaginary Adventure at Bank Art Fair

Storytelling painter Fatdoo presented works centered on a character called Dorobodog at the Bank Art Fair in October. The canvases, filled with a thief puppy who longs to paint and a cast of quirky characters, turned the exhibition space into a colorful storybook.

A Small White Dog With Big Adventures

Fatdoo took part through Tommy Kim Gallery 2. The show featured paintings packed with tiny characters and objects, along with wooden works cut to follow the outline of Dorobodog. The white dog in a red hat strolls across flower-covered hills and rides a rocket to unfamiliar worlds, with a different adventure in every piece. In the story, Dorobodog steals art supplies to draw pictures for children, while the paintings show the dog traveling to many places.

Children and other visitors stood in front of the works, studying characters and small scenes. Conversations with the artist continued in the same space. One piece, Find Dorobodog, takes its idea from the once-popular Where's Wally? books and invites viewers to hunt for the dog inside the picture. From a distance, vivid colors and large characters drew people in; up close, small adventures hid in every corner of the canvas.

Fatdoo, who has long told stories through music, brings the same imagination to painting. Several scenes share one canvas, and the characters' expressions and actions make viewers curious about what happens next. A visitor was also seen buying one of the outline-shaped works. The fair ran from October 15 to 18, 2026, at SETEC, an exhibition center in Gangnam District, Seoul.

Why It Matters

Fatdoo's friendly character gives art-fair visitors, including children, an easy way into a painting and a chance to find their own stories. The conversations shared while searching for the little hero became another story linking the artwork and the people viewing it.
