Jean-Luc Godard, who worked tirelessly for nearly 70 years from the 1950s, raised important issues in film and film discourse, imagining new models of thought, and led him to expand the horizons of thinking about the world. However, paradoxically, Godard's films are often mentioned, but there are not many opportunities to be shown properly. Aside from the films of the early Nouvelle Vague era, the works of the 1970s after 1968, which created alternative and radical works by raising problems not only with the existing film production system but also with the film screen itself, are in such a situation. Seoul Art Cinema screened 14 major works of this period at the special exhibition '1968+50 New World, New Movie' in 2018. In this retrospective, special attention is paid to the works of Godard since the 1980s. Godard in the 80s seemed to have returned to his institutional system at first glance, but he continued his experiments in philosophy and art, history and politics, and outside of film and film without limit. And before and after his landmark masterpiece (1998), Godard once again showed a new status. In this work, he looked back on the history of film and reflected on the modern society of the 20th century, and through the montage work of cutting and pasting films, he led us to examine our own thinking model that perceives the world. In other words, the method of cinema, which develops thought through the connection of images, was no different from Godard's method of exploring how the world works. Godard's work since the 1960s has changed over several periods, but has maintained a terrifying consistency. He brought about a fundamental revolution in the way films are made, thought and received, which, in Dane's words, is related to the 'education of images'. 출처 : K trendy NEWS(http://www.k-trendynews.com) Making a film is also about seeing, speaking and receiving images. A lifelong free artist, poet and thinker, Godard is also an original observer of the (true) history of cinema. This retrospective is expected as a time to meet the works of this generous and free artist who gave us the opportunity to freely explore the world of images. 출처 : K trendy NEWS(http://www.k-trendynews.com)
